Samuel Lee Younce, 72, of Hickory passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at his home. Born April 8th, 1952, he was the son of the late Jay and Myrtle Younce. Samuel retired as a Finishing Director of Bernhardt Furniture Co., where he spent many years contributing his expertise and passion to the industry. Beyond his professional achievements, Samuel was a man of many talents and interests. A lover of music, he was a self-taught guitar player and singer, filling the home with memories of his melodies. Family was the cornerstone of Samuel’s life. He found immense joy in spending time with loved ones, especially during the lively game nights with his grandchildren. These moments were a testament to his enduring spirit, laughter, and love, leaving a legacy of treasured memories.

He is survived by his spouse of 24 years Lynie (Lynn) Younce of the home; two daughters Tiffaney Cook (Tommy Gleiter) of Wilmington, NC and Kelley Cook (Micha Dula) of California; a son Brian Younce (Peggy) of Granite Falls, NC; four grandchildren Aiden Younce, Seth Bodford, Audrina Bodford, and Tillie Gleiter; four sisters Dorothy Winkler of Hickory, NC, Willadean Vines (Cecil) of Lenoir, NC, Sandra Scudder of Lenoir, NC, and Carolyn Bentley (Roger) of Lenoir, NC; and a brother Edward Younce (Sarah) of Lenoir, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Marlene Bolick; two brothers Joseph Younce (Willard) and Kenneth Younce; a brother-in-law Larry Winkler; and a granddaughter Madison Bodford.

The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
