Rena Beamer

Rena Janet Shook Hefner Beamer, 79, passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2017, at the Parrish residence in Mauldin, SC. After many years of searching her body was recovered on November 3, 2022, in Tryon, NC. Born on October 31, 1937, in Hickory, NC; she was the daughter of the late William Edgar Shook and Minnie Mae Killian Shook.

Rena worked in the hospitality industry for many years serving in various roles. She enjoyed decorating her home for all holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. She also enjoyed watching movies, especially older movies with John Wayne.

Rena is survived by her sons, Gary Hefner, wife Judy, of Spartanburg, SC, and Tim Hefner, of Tryon, NC; her daughters, Lisa Cook, husband Doug, of Hickory, NC, and Beth Beamer of Raleigh, NC; her stepson Jacob Beamer of Wilkesboro, NC; her stepdaughters, Wanda Ballard, husband Mike, of Lincolnton, NC, and Darlene Beamer of Maiden, NC; as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, David Shook of Newport News, VA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rena was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Hefner, and her second husband, Paul Beamer; her father, 'Ed' Shook; her mother, Minnie Shook, and stepmother, Grace Shook; her son, Ronnie Hefner; her stepson, Mark Beamer; her sister, Margaret Mathis; her brother, Carl Shook; and her stepsister, Rosalie Stevenson; as well as some nieces and nephews.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at 3:30 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Community Chapel Church located at 1526 Airport Rhodhiss Road, Hickory, NC, with Pastor John Mays, City Harvest Church, officiating.
