Marian Story

Marian Boyd Story, 60, of Hickory passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at her home. Born March 11th, 1962 she was the daughter of Judith Lynne Boyd and the late John Early Boyd. Marian attended The Episcopal Church of the Ascension where she was a member of the Vestry, and Co-Chair of the Altar Guild. She was past-president of the Service League of Hickory and an avid volunteer at CCM. In her free time she loved to swim, travel, and make bead jewelry. She will be remembered for how genuine and thoughtful she was to everyone around her; she never missed an opportunity to let someone know she was thinking about them whether it was a book for her grandchildren or an ornament for her friends. Marian was a bright light to everyone around her; she stayed positive through her battle of ALS, keeping those in her presence uplifted.

She is survived by her husband Christopher Story; three sons Andrew Story (Mary), Frank Story (Tracy), and Ethan Story; her mom Judith Boyd; four grandchildren Parker, Madison, Henry and Grady; a brother Scott Boyd; three sisters Fran Boyd, Lisa Boyd, and Amy Wynn.

She was preceded in death by her father John Boyd and her mother Nancy Tharrington Boyd.

The memorial service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension located at 726 1st Ave NW, Hickory, NC 28601 with the Rev. Karla Woggon officiating. Burial will follow in the church's garden.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Monday, January 9th, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center located at 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658.
