Jewell Nelson

January 14, 1941 — April 7, 2024

Jewell Lee Farley Nelson, 83, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 7th, 2024. She was surrounded by her family whom she loved with all her heart as she took her last breath. Jewell was born January 14th 1941 in Lerona, WV to the late Vivian and Mamie (Neely) Farley.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Charles Edward Nelson; her best friend and sister Dorothy E. McBride; a brother Vivian Edward Farley; her beloved niece, Coleen M. Farley; and two adored baby children, Deborah Kay and Kelly Leigh Nelson.

She leaves to cherish her memory of her daughters and son, the most important part of her life her five children, Karen Owen, Tammy Angle, Chuck Nelson, Vicki Bridges, and, Misti Owens and Sons-In-Law she adored. She leaves behind her fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Her loved and adored nephew, Edward Farley, and his two children, Tera and Chase Farley. Jewell had a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. Each one meant more to her than words can describe.

Jewell loved going with her family to the beach and watching her grandchildren play in the sand. Jewell loved to cook and bake for her family all the time, making her famous potato salad or peanut butter cake. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Jewell. This could be writing, working a sudoku or crossword puzzle, reading her Bible, praying, singing hymns as she cleaned, reading the newspaper, a phone call to her sister just to reminisce about their childhood days and growing up on the farm. She was a big NASCAR fan. Jewell was always willing to lend a helping hand, expecting nothing in return. She always thought of others before thinking of herself. She was calm, passionate, and faithful in her faith in God. Jewell was always supportive and encouraging, always full of kindness and wisdom. She was proud of her family.

Jewell’s favorite scripture was found in Psalms 23.

Out of respect for Jewell and her family, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jordan Chapel in Pipestem, West Virginia.
