Jarred Wallace Cheek, 42, of Newton passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023. Born February 2nd, 1981 he was the son of Connie Wreyford Cheek and the late Garry Wallace Cheek. He graduated from Maiden High School in 1999. He loved playing baseball and stole the home plate for the winning run in their Baseball State Championship. He was an avid skier and had a passion for riding horses. He was known for being the guy with the biggest heart. He will be greatly missed by all those around him.
He is survived by his one true love and love of his life Emily Mingus of Hickory; two daughters Ava Cheek and Kinsley of Hickory; his mom Connie Wreyford Cheek of Newton; a sister Courtney Loudermelk of Newton; two nieces Olivia Cheek of Newton and Isabella Loudermelk of Taylorsville; an aunt Martha Mobley of Hickory; an uncle Sam Wreyford (Naomi) of Georgia and Kenny Longmire (Janice) of Tennessee; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Tennessee and Georgia; and many loving friends from all over.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Elmer and Bernice Longmire; and an aunt Pat Viles.
A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
