Gary Hopper

Gary Wayne Hopper Sr.,73, of Denver, NC passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cabarrus County, NC Gary was the son of the late Calvin and Margaret Jenkins Hopper. Mr. Hopper worked proudly for Wells Fargo in the Armored Car division as a Supervisor until he decided to literally switch gears and become an accomplished truck driver working for Teaberry Express until his retirement. Gary was a friend to all dogs. He loved to fish and tell stories about the ones that got away.

Mr. Hopper is survived by his wife, Jean Newman Hopper, his sister, Cindy Sawyer, husband, Wayne; his children, Tammy Roach, husband Mike; Gary Wayne Hopper Jr, wife, June; Calvin Hopper; and his step-children, Kathy Schweitzer, Jonathan, Peter, Jamie, and Jennifer Sweitzer with numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Hopper is preceded in death by his parents as well as his step sons, Gerald, Mark and Paul Sweitzer.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life Service will be announced at a later date.
