Darrell Lynn Steele

Darrell Steele, 61, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Billy Ralph Steele and Patricia Blackwell Steele, a sister Beverly Dobbins.

Many describe Darrell as a quiet man with a kind and gentle soul. He had a true passion for photography and had an amazing ability to capture nature, man-made objects, and abstract subjects in an artistic manner. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to all genres of music. He was a hard worker who loved his family deeply. He was employed with Hanes Manufacturing for over 30 years, and for the last year he had been employed by Sonoco, until his passing.

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 30 years Norma G. Steele, son Evan Steele, daughter Angie Shade (spouse Aaron), granddaughter Acacia Shade; siblings Leslie Steele, Soncera Steele, Tarrell Walker (spouse Ben Lee), Phyllis Holland, Billy Ray Dobbins, and Patricia Dobbins; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Darrell was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1990. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses which is located at 1403 NC-16 Business, Newton, NC, 28658.

The family extends deep gratitude to Dr. Richards, Dr. Thurman, Carolina Caring, and all the amazing nurses on 4th floor North Tower at Frye Regional Medical Center who were so kind and helpful to Darrell and his entire family as they stayed at his side until his passing.
