Crystal Harlan

Crystal "Christy" Miller Harlan, 48, of Hickory passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at her home. Born November 3rd, 1974, she was the daughter of John Miller and Patricia Cantrell Miller. Christy was loved by everyone that knew her. She was the most empathetic person you have ever met. She saw the good in everyone, even when they were not at their best. Lost or troubled souls were magnetized to her for her healing nature. She wanted to help everyone, and even took on the pain of others in the process. Christy was fiercely passionate about making this world a better place, and she stood up for justice at all costs. She was funny, charming, witty, intelligent, and extremely loving. Her curly, golden hair, sky blue eyes, and beautiful smile would light up every room she walked into. She was always the life of the party.

Christy is survived by her husband of eighteen years Derek Harlan of the home; a daughter Anna Bollinger of Hickory; a son Paris Harlan of Hickory; a step-son Trea Harlan of Newton, IA; her mother Patricia Miller (Mark Ross) of Hendersonville; an aunt Susan "Susie" Camp of Stanley; an uncle David Cantrell (Cricket) of Hickory; mother-in-law Margaret Heneke of Urbandale, Iowa; father-in-law Larry Harlan (Lisa) of Corydon, Iowa; sister-in-law Kristin Redies (Kyle) of Urbandale, Iowa; two brother-in-laws Seth Harlan of Clio, Iowa and John Harlan of Urbandale, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special kid Dymia Drewery and numerous neighborhood kids that were all so special to her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Winton and Eula Cantrell, and her uncle Kent Cantrell.

A friends and family gathering will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2023 at Caring Cremations at 609 Highland Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
